Log Error Summarizer Help

A secure, branded workspace for analyzing GoAnywhere MFT and Tomcat logs.

What is Log Error Summarizer?

Log Error Summarizer is a web-based tool built by Cobalt Prairie Consulting for operations and support teams who need to make sense of GoAnywhere MFT and Tomcat log files quickly. It parses log entries, groups repeating messages, highlights errors and warnings, and produces shareable PDF reports so you can spend less time scrolling and more time fixing.

Key benefits

Save investigation time

Repeating log messages are collapsed into a single summary so you see unique problems at a glance.

Built for GoAnywhere and Tomcat

Native parsing for common GoAnywhere MFT and Tomcat/java.util.logging formats, including rotated logs.

Per-user encrypted storage

Every uploaded file is encrypted at rest with a unique Fernet key tied to the application.

Client-scoped sessions

Organize uploads by client or environment so unrelated logs never mix together.

Export to PDF

Generate a branded PDF report with summaries, search results, and timelines for stakeholders.

Email-verified access

Accounts are protected by email verification, password reset, and admin-controlled user management.

Features

  • Upload logs: Drag and drop single files or ZIP archives containing GoAnywhere MFT or Tomcat logs.
  • Search and filter: Find messages by keyword, severity level, or time window across all uploaded files.
  • Message grouping: Numbers and hex IDs are normalized so the same error reported with different values appears once.
  • Severity summary: Instant counts for INFO, WARNING, DEBUG, ERROR, and SEVERE levels.
  • Detail view: Click any grouped message to see every original occurrence with timestamps.
  • PDF reports: Export the current client session or filtered view as a professional PDF.
  • Auto-delete: Configurable retention removes old uploads automatically to control disk use.
  • Light and dark modes: Toggle the authenticated interface between a clean light theme and a navy dark theme.
  • Admin user management: Administrators can create users, reset passwords, toggle admin access, and remove accounts.

Getting started

1. Create an account

On the login page, choose Create account, enter a username and your email address, and set a password. A verification link is sent to your inbox; you must confirm your email before signing in.

2. Sign in

Return to the login page and sign in with your username and password. You can also sign in using the email address associated with your account.

3. Create or select a client

After signing in, create a client to represent the system or customer whose logs you are reviewing. Each client keeps uploads separate.

4. Upload logs

Upload individual .log files or a ZIP archive. The application decrypts, parses, and indexes the entries for the current client.

5. Review summaries and search

Use the dashboard to see grouped messages, filter by severity, and search for specific text. Click a message to view all occurrences.

6. Export a PDF

When you are ready to share findings, use the export option to generate a branded PDF report.

Security and privacy

  • Passwords are hashed with Werkzeug security utilities.
  • Session cookies are signed with the application secret.
  • Uploaded log files are encrypted at rest with Fernet symmetric encryption.
  • Each user has a private storage directory; administrators cannot browse another user’s files through the UI.
  • Email verification is required before first access for email-based accounts.
  • Password reset links are single-use and expire after a configurable timeout.
